Abstract

I will propose a motive and methodology for value chain roadmapping and apply the concept to the communications value chain which has significant complexity and fast clockspeeds. The motivation builds on experience from the semiconductor industry for roadmapping technology dynamics. Methodologically, I apply systems dynamics thinking and ultimately models for integrating an assessment of technology dynamics with regulatory policy dynamics, business cycle dynamics, industry structure dynamics, customer preference dynamics, and corporate strategy dynamics. A number of projects in process to support this effort will be described.
